Milan Fashion Week Spring 2009: Versace vs. Gucci

Versace was lauded for its wearable and graceful Spring wear:

Gucci's Spring 2009 show however, was bashed as stale:

Top Model Whitney Thompson Endorses "Love Your Body" Campaign: Yay or Nay?

NOW Foundation (http://loveyourbody.nowfoundation.org/) is campaigning against the (perhaps) unhealthy promotion of the thin woman as the ideal woman in visual media.

Top Model Whitney Thompson has paired with plus-size model Chenese Lewis for the Love Your Body Campaign:

Who is healthy looking? For women is visual healthiness the same as attractiveness for? Do paradigms of attractive need updating?

In case you missed the soft glow of the 80s.

Tyra Banks: her infamous fat photo circa 2007.

Tyra Banks in mainstream modeling form.

What body type suits her best to you? Or does that matter if she's equally happy in both physical states?

This image was recently used (in a series of images) to promote "Top Model." Is this an unhealthy/disturbing image and/or philosophy?

But surely there's a difference between the aforementioned girl/woman's waist and Gisele Bundchen's:

While Gisele Bundchen is thin, she is thin-curvy as opposed to waifish-heroin chic 90s supdermodel Kate Moss:

Kate Moss and Gisele Bundchen are still thinner than Western beauty Sophia Loren in the 1950s:

& Anita Ekberg in the 1960s:

Yet actress & fashion icon Grace Kelly was also popular in the 1950s:

Then again, very thin Britt Ekland (most famous as a Bond Girl) was popular in the 70s:

Do you think there is more/less variety in mainstream media aimed at women? Even if there is, are the desirable women usually thin? The Nikki Blonsky women usually goofy and lovable sidekicks to the "hot" (thin) female protagonist?
